Minimum Device Requirements
Device, Browser, Connectivity, and Permission Requirements for Installers
The Ndustrial Provisioning App is a web-based application designed for use on a modern smartphone or tablet during installation work.
Device Requirements
Installers should use a smartphone or tablet that includes:
- A working rear-facing camera
- Location services
- A reliable cellular data connection or personal hotspot
- A screen large enough to comfortably complete forms, review photos, scan barcodes, and capture signatures
A tablet may be used as a larger-screen alternative to a smartphone. The app does not require any tablet-specific features.
Supported Browsers
Use a current version of:
- Google Chrome
- Apple Safari
Other modern browsers may also be compatible, but Chrome and Safari are recommended for the best experience.
Required Permissions
The following browser permissions must be enabled:
- Camera: Used to scan equipment barcodes and capture installation photos
- Location: Used to confirm and record the installation location for job completion and sign-off
The installer may be unable to continue if either permission is blocked.
Internet Connection
An active internet connection is required throughout the provisioning workflow. Offline use is not currently supported.
Installers should not rely on access to customer or facility Wi-Fi. A device with access to cellular service is required. A personal hotspot or separate cellular modem may also be used.
Device Battery
Begin the installation with a fully charged device and bring a portable charger or power bank when possible.
Cold-storage warehouses, walk-in freezers and coolers (i.e. cold environents) cause device batteries to drain faster than under normal conditions. Installers must maintain access to their device throughout the entire installation because the Provisioning App is required to complete the workflow and obtain customer sign-off at the end of the job.
Recommended Device Settings
For the best experience:
- Keep the device display size and browser zoom at the standard or default setting
- Avoid heavily enlarged text or display scaling that significantly reduces the usable screen area
- Confirm camera, location, and cellular data access before beginning work
Laptop and desktop computers are not recommended for field installation because they are less practical for barcode scanning, installation photos, location capture, and work performed throughout the facility.
