Asset Tag Placement & Remapping

Use this guide after the Asset Setup & Tagging Workflow directs you to remap or relocate an asset tag.

1. Prepare the New Tag Location

Before applying a new tag:

• Confirm that you are working with the correct physical asset and Linq record.
• Choose a permanent surface that is visible and easy for facility personnel to scan, as directed per asset type standards.
• Avoid locations routinely blocked by product, shelving, or movable equipment.
• Do not place the tag on a removable panel or component unless specifically directed.

2. Reach-In Tag Placement

Place the tag on the lower exterior portion of the reach-in, near the manufacturer information or equipment nameplate when practical.

The tag should clearly correspond to the complete refrigerated asset and remain accessible during normal facility operations.

3. Walk-In Tag Placement

Place the tag on the walk-in door or door frame in an accessible in-store location.

Some existing tags may be located on rooftop or exterior condensing equipment because of a previous tagging strategy. When relocating one of these tags, the existing Linq asset record and service history should be retained while the scannable tag is moved to the walk-in entrance.

4. Remove the Previous Tag

Remove the previous tag only when it is being relocated from an incorrect or inaccessible location.

When removal is required:

1. Remove or scrape off the old sticker.
2. Ensure the previous QR code can no longer be scanned.
3. Avoid damaging the equipment surface.

5. Remap and Verify the New Tag

Use Remap QR in Linq to associate the existing Service Channel asset record with the new physical tag.

After placement:

• Scan the new tag with Linq Remap feature and follow prompts.
• Confirm that the tag is secure, readable, and appropriately located.
• Capture any required Asset Tag photo or other require fields to submit.
• Save the change and manually sync the asset to ServiceChannel.
